Refined Méribel is one of three renowned resorts located in the Three Valleys region, along with Courchevel and Val Thorens. Méribel is renowned for its elegant architecture, featuring numerous classic-style chalets built from natural wood and stone. It has hosted several world-class ski competitions, including several Winter Olympic events in 1992 and the Women's Alpine Skiing World Cup in 2013.
Trails and slopes
The Méribel resort boasts four ski areas at varying altitudes: from Méribel Village at 1,400 meters to Méribel Altiport at 1,700 meters. The total length of pistes reaches 150 kilometers, with slopes for skiers and snowboarders of all skill levels. Beginners are recommended to try the pistes of Branchot and Altiport, as well as some of the Rond-Point slopes. Advanced skiers will be drawn to the black runs of Combe de Tougne, the steep Combe du Valonne, and La Fasse—an "Olympic" piste for speed enthusiasts. Méribel's slopes are served by over 50 lifts.
Entertainment: active recreation and attractions
One of the main attractions is the Olympic Park, where you can enjoy a swimming pool, spa, fitness center, climbing wall, and ice rink. Incidentally, the resort boasts numerous spas, making it easy to find somewhere to relax after a day on the slopes. Méribel also boasts two snow parks where snowboarders can practice their freeriding skills. Standard ski resort activities include snowmobiling, sledding, and dog sledding, as well as groomed hiking and snowshoeing trails through the picturesque alpine landscapes.
Méribel boasts a museum dedicated to the region's history, cinema, and bowling, and hosts regular exhibitions, so there's plenty of choice for cultural activities.
In the evening and at night, resort guests can relax in the numerous bars and nightclubs. We recommend checking out one of the best après-ski bars in Europe, Le Rond Point, the Dick's Tea club, and the atmospheric Doron pub.
Family vacation
Méribel is a great place to take the whole family—it has all the necessary infrastructure for children's entertainment. Children aged 1.5 to 3 can enjoy Les Saturnins, a playroom located in the Olympic Park, while slightly older children (3-5) can attend the ESF ski school's preschool. Experienced instructors are ready to teach skiing and snowboarding to children aged 5 and up, with training levels ranging from beginner to advanced. Another option for introducing younger family members to winter sports is the Magic school.
Local cuisine
The selection of restaurants and cafes is vast, from the most casual slopeside eateries to Michelin-starred restaurants. Here you can experience not only classic French cuisine but also authentic Savoyard cuisine. We recommend trying the legendary barbecue at Chez Kiki, fondue at La Kouisena, and classic French cuisine at establishments like Les Enfants Terribles and Le Yeti.
How to get there
The international airports of Geneva, Grenoble, and Chambéry are located between 95 and 135 kilometers from the resort. Méribel can also be reached by train from Paris—the station is 18 km from the resort, from where you can take a taxi.
